This print is 7 of 31 for a book I'm making for my final project. Every picture is a pre-meditated constructed image. If you want to know about the project, just note me. Enjoy!
Used a Polarizing filter to take out the reflection in the window.
All pictures shot with Kodak Portra 400VC and printed in darkroom, then scanned from the print.
mmm, nice composition. I like the tones, the selected objects, the views from the window, the scene in general but maybe the gesture of the character is a little unnatural.
Great color scheme... I actually recently went out to buy some film, among them was the Kodak Portra series..thought I'd test them out..both vc and nc. Nice to see something to look forward to with this film...did you use any external artificial lighting source, or was this all done with natural lighting?... Looks great.
haha thank you. it's funny that i'm hearing that, because I chose that negative because it was the only pose that was natural throughout the shoot. all the other poses he did were static and uncomfortable, and as he went to ash his cigarette, I clicked the shutter and captured the goofiness in the pose that matches greatly to his personality.
this was actually all natural. it was the harsh shadowed light from the sun setting in the west. i'm really glad that the shadows turned out cool and the highlights warm. i think he becomes more 3-d in the photo, although that is shown a lot less with the horrible print scanning.
haha, someone else said that too, weird. i chose the image because it was his only natural moment throughout the shoot. all the others were him looking at the lens and posing in a way that would convey an image other than his own, so i chose the one where he didn't know i took it. i know the pose looks a little awkward, but it was not staged.
